What is Azulim for? Learn all about the ceramic cleaner
Today, the Azulim line offers a wide range of products to "keep everything sparkling clean" in every corner of the house. But it all started a long time ago with Azulim Ceramic Cleaner, the first product in Brazil specifically designed to clean ceramics and tiles.
The rest of the story is one you already know: when a mother says, “Son, go buy an Azulim,” he arrives at the store asking, “Sir, can I get an Azulim?”—and everyone immediately knows they’re talking about the ceramic cleaner.
It has become synonymous with our brand. That’s why today, when answering the question “What is Azulim for?” we won’t talk about our detergent, degreaser, all-purpose cleaner, or disinfectant. The focus is on everything related to Azulim Ceramic Cleaner and the different versions of this product, which has so many stories to tell.
Everything, really! Take a look:
How did Azulim Ceramic Cleaner come about?
Imagine the scene: decades ago, almost every Brazilian home had ceramic floors, but each housekeeper and cleaning professional had their own way of cleaning them—powdered soap, detergent, bleach, and even that special mix combining all sorts of cleaning products —who hasn’t?
The biggest problem here isn’t just the wasted effort and product. The real issue is that it doesn’t actually get the floor truly clean. Even worse, over time, these types of products strip away the ceramic’s glaze. The surface becomes dull, stained, and worn out. It’s awful.
At that time, we were in our labs thinking, “Isn’t there a way to clean ceramic floors without damaging them while also restoring the shine that these products take away?”
Back then, no. But we made sure to change that. That’s when Azulim Ceramic, Tile, and Grout Cleaner was born—the first product designed exclusively to remove dirt, stains, and buildup from ceramic surfaces.
And it only gets better: Azulim Ceramic Cleaner is affordable, easy to apply, and even leaves a fresh citrus or lavender scent, depending on the version you choose.
But you already know that, right? So now, let’s get into the more technical details of the product.
So, how does Azulim Ceramic Cleaner actually work?
As Albert Einstein once said: “It is not the answers that move the world, but the questions.” In fact, we had a problem, and we didn’t rest until we found the solution—or rather, created it. And now, we’re going to share our secret with you:
Azulim Ceramic Cleaner is an inorganic descaler with surfactants. Great, but what does that actually mean?
Well, basically, it means that it cleans all types of inorganic dirt from your ceramic tiles. But to explain it better, we’ll give you a quick chemistry lesson—it’s fast and simple, we promise!
Azulim Ceramic Cleaner is an Acid with Biodegradable Surfactants
Every aqueous solution has a pH, which refers to the concentration of ionic hydrogen (H+).
The closer to 14, the more basic or alkaline it is (bleach has a pH of 13, and an egg has a pH of 9).
The closer to 7, the more neutral it is (Azulim Neutral Detergent is between 6.5 and 7.5. Water is the most neutral element, with a pH of 7).
The closer to 0, the more acidic it is (a battery has a pH of 0, while a tomato has a pH of 3).
Our Ceramic Cleaner has a pH between 2.5 and 4.5, so it is acidic.
This acidity is what allows it to remove all types of inorganic dirt—such as soil, mud, or soot embedded in the floors. This property of removing this type of dirt when it is already "stuck" is what we call a descaling agent.
The Grill Cleaner, for example, is more alkaline (around 9). This means it is more effective at removing organic dirt, such as oils and grease.
Going back to Azulim Ceramic Cleaner, it also contains surfactant ingredients. These can "encapsulate" even the deepest dirt, almost like a magnet. So, when you rinse the product, the dirt comes off easily with it, requiring little effort.
How to Apply Azulim Ceramic Cleaner
Well, by now you already know what Azulim is for: removing dirt from ceramics, tiles, and grout, no matter how stuck it is. Now, we just need to tell you how to get the best results safely.
Yes, safely. Although it is a product tested and approved by ANVISA (the Brazilian Health Regulatory Agency), it is still a chemical mixture that has regulations and a safety data sheet for you to check.
That's why, before showing you how to apply Azulim Ceramic Cleaner, it is our responsibility to present the recommendations:
Keep out of reach of children and pets.
We recommend using gloves when handling the product and its dilutions.
Do not ingest, inhale, aspirate, or come into contact with eyes and mucous membranes.
Do not apply in completely enclosed spaces.
Do not mix with products containing chlorine, such as bleach.
Do not use on metallic surfaces, marble, granite, or porcelain.
Let's go to the usage instructions.
How to Use Azulim Ceramic Cleaner for Heavy Cleaning
As we’ve already explained, Azulim Ceramic Cleaner is designed for heavy-duty cleaning. We’re talking about those completely stained and grimy floors—the ones you’ve scrubbed with every product possible, and nothing worked.
When we developed it, we had exactly this situation in mind. If this is your case, all you need to do is:
Dilute 1L of Azulim Ceramic Cleaner in a plastic bucket with 10L of water.
Apply it to the wet floor and scrub with a stiff-bristled brush.
Then, wait a few moments to let the product work. But be careful: do not let it dry.
Finally, just rinse and be amazed by the results.

How to Use Azulim Ceramic Cleaner for Daily Cleaning
Not every cleaning session is heavy-duty. Especially after you start using Azulim Ceramic Cleaner. Once you do the first application, your job afterward will be just maintenance— the routine cleaning you already do once or twice at home.
The only difference between using Azulim or any other product in your daily cleaning routine is that Azulim is specifically designed for your ceramic or tile. It won’t cause damage and will even help restore the surface.
In this case, the instructions remain the same. The only difference is the dilution, which should be 1L of Azulim Tile Cleaner for 15L of water.
